I’ve had this little problem now for a while, and today it came to a point were it needed to be solved;
I haven’t been able to transform/distort shapes in Visio 2010, which I clearly remembered was possible in older versions of Visio.
And when you google how to do it; you get images like this (kindly lent from EtherealMind.com), telling you to mouse over the shape and wait for the extra handles to pop up.
Please don’t try that in Visio 2010, because it won’t work.
The reason why? Because Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided to not enable it out of the box in Visio 2010, that’s why.
Here’s how to correct that;
First, this is what will happen in a stock Visio 2010 installation when you mouse over a shape:
Quite annoying. But the fix is very easy!
Open Options…
And click Advanced, and then check “Show more shape handles on hoover”
And then it will look like this:
